- Ấn phẩmNutritional Management in Obesity and Diabetes(Springer Med Press, 2023) Federica BarziThe first part’s first six chapters (Part 1) discuss the particular nutritional concerns and nutrient needs for humans at all periods of life, from pregnancy and infancy to adolescence and older adulthood. Including obesity, diabetes, coronary heart disease, hypertension, cancer, gastrointestinal disorders, liver and pancreatic disease, chronic kidney disease, osteoporosis, eating disorders, inherited metabolic disorders, and food allergies and intolerances, the role of nutrition in the prevention and management of chronic conditions frequently seen in clinical practice is outlined in Chapters 7 through 19 (Part 2). Chaps. 20–27 (Part 3) follow, which discuss various nutritional topics such as vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber as well as suggestions for vegetarian diets, organic food, and alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The remainder of Chapter 28 (Part 4) outlines what is now known about the connection between nutrition and health. A summary of the numerous meal guidelines is included at the chapter’s conclusion. Chaps. 29–31 (Part 5) continue this subject by examining a variety of information sources, including as food labels, dietary reference intakes, and helpful strategies for encouraging patients to adopt healthy behavior adjustments. The final five chapters address a variety of subjects (Part 6). In Chapter 32, dietary supplement-related topics are examined, with a focus on the issue of deceptive marketing. The pervasive issue of inaccurate dietary information is next examined in Chapter 33. The final three subjects covered in Chapters 34–36 are bariatric surgery, techniques for determining nutritional status, and pharmacological interactions with food. Different points of view among readers are possible, but in the field of nutrition where dispute and controversy are a way of life rather than a thing to be avoided, it is sometimes impossible to avoid them. Additionally, readers are reminded that nutrition is a rapidly developing science. In the years to come, many now commonly held beliefs about nutrition may be proven false. The next three quotes highlight how our idea of what constitutes medical and nutritional knowledge is evolving.
